Programmes/Resources

Speak out. Stay safe. ASN can help your pupils understand what abuse is and provide them with strategies to keep themselves safe. The six-session programme has been designed to be delivered by school staff using practical activities and engaging methods to support pupils as well as teachers.  The materials are aimed at children in P6 and P7 with moderate learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions or other additional learning needs. The focus of the programme is for children to understand what abuse is and to feel supported and able to talk to trusted adults. The programme can be adapted easily to suit the needs and abilities of your pupils and maximize their learning.  Contact schools@nspcc.org.uk  for more information.

Sexual Health, Relationships and Parenthood a workbook resource for one-to-one support
Created by Joanne Barrie (NHS Forth Valley) this Sexual Health workbook contains worksheets designed to assist teachers, parents, carers and other professionals in delivering Sexual Health, Relationship and Parenthood Education to young people with a learning disability. Whilst some young people may access the RSHP programme in schools, they may need additional one-to-one learning support. This Workbook is not designed to replace group work or class work but aims to complement existing RSHP education and build on learning and understanding. There is no single resource that can meet the needs of this diverse group of young people. Some exercises may need to be adapted, according to individual ability and learning styles.
